Sydney Sweeney was spotted laying low on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in New York City though she has not been confirmed to have a role in the upcoming movie
Sydney Sweeney was recently spotted on the set of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2,’ which is currently filming in New York City.
The highly anticipated sequel to the hit 2006 movie stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt, who are all reprising their iconic roles.
On August 6, Sydney was seen exiting a trailer on location, though she has not been confirmed to be part of the cast, which means it’s possible she may be making a cameo as herself. Her appearance on set comes as the ‘Euphoria’ star navigates backlash from a controversial American Eagle denim ad.
Sydney stepped out on the rainy day incognito, sans jeans and umbrella in hand, wearing dark blue sweatpants and an oversized blue sweatshirt with the hood pulled over her face. Her signature blonde hair peeked out from the sides.
The film stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt, who are reprising their iconic roles, along with Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, Patrick Brammall, and more. The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna are also returning for the second installment, which is slated to release on May 1, 2026.
In an August 4 interview with IndieWire, Aline addressed the paparazzi shots from the set and the flocks of fans who have gathered on set to catch a glimpse of stars like Sydney. “People will stand outside just for a glimpse of these actors and these characters that they love because seeing them in wardrobe has really excited people, especially since it’s a fashion movie,” she said. “We knew there would be a lot of interest. I personally hadn’t experienced this level of people coming out, but it’s the world we live in…As long as everyone’s safe, what an honor that people are still interested.”
The ‘Anyone But You’ star has been lying low since facing controversy over her American Eagle campaign. The denim ad drew criticism for its tagline, “Sydney Sweeney has good jeans,” a play on words that has been likened to a eugenicist dog whistle.
Amid the onslaught of criticism, internet sleuths discovered she is registered as a Republican in Florida, which led to even more condemnation from fans. Donald Trump praised the actress on his social media platform Truth Social, writing, “Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the HOTTEST ad out there.”
Sydney covered her face while on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2, just days after she was heckled while arriving at a screening of her upcoming film ‘Americana’ in Los Angeles on August 3.
Her involvement in the movie has not been confirmed.
