A new portrait of Donald Trump has been hung in the Oval Office, sparking some shocked reaction over the background behind the orange-faced president
A controversial new portrait of Donald Trump has sparked a huge backlash over its perceived depiction of ‘Satanic themes’.
Sebastian Gorka, the deputy assistant to the president, revealed a fresh portrait of Trump, which is currently adorning the Oval Office.
The artwork showcases Trump strolling amidst rows of American flags with an orange glow behind him – likened to fire by observers – and was teased as just “one of the new” Trump-themed artworks gracing the White House.
The piece was created by Vanessa Horabuena, a self-proclaimed Christian worship painter. It comes after a lip reader revealed Trump’s chilling 3-word promise that he whispered into Putin’s ear in Alaska.
However, not everyone was thrilled about the portrait, with some describing it as “too accurate” and others as “too orange.”
Project Liberal questioned, “Why is the country on fire behind him?”
This sentiment resonated with many, as another user remarked, “fits. America is on fire in the background and Trump walks away..”
Others drew attention to Trump’s collection of self-portraits in the White House, particularly following reports last week that portraits of Obama and Bush have been relocated to a seldom-used stairwell. “The man can’t get enough of himself,” one user criticized.
Another chimed in: “As per usual, it’s all about his ego.”
Another commented on the figure’s lack of resemblance to Trump’s appearance. “Did you request the portrait to appear 60 lbs lighter than reality?” an X user queried.
Mirror reached out to the White House and the artist for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.
Presidential collection
Trump’s portraits and paintings around the White House have drawn backlash before, but a recent effort to display them to other world leaders didn’t go as seamlessly as Trump anticipated.
His legendary photo from the Butler assassination attempt, with him raising his fist in the air, is also a point of pride for the president, who tries to showcase it to guests.
Before a meeting inside the East Room yesterday, the seven European heads of state gathered for a photo with Trump and Zelensky in the Grand Foyer of the White House.
While they stood together, the president motioned toward a painting showing his bloodied ear after surviving an assassination attempt during his 2024 campaign in Pennsylvania.
“That was not a good day. Not a great day. See the picture?” Trump said, pointing to a wall to the group’s right where the large painting is displayed. However, not all the leaders were as enthusiastic as Trump about the picture.
Some of the leaders briefly looked over, seeming to show minimal interest, while others, like French President Emmanuel Macron, kept looking straight ahead.
The Republican leader has been redesigning the White House, including renovating the Rose Garden and incorporating multiple gold touches around the Oval Office.
Many of those modifications have included swapping out portraits of his predecessors. In a recent photo posted on X, Trump’s patriotic portrait is prominently displayed between former First Lady Laura Bush and another first lady, taking the place of his longtime adversary, Hillary Clinton.
It comes after Joe Rogan revealed a bombshell new conspiracy theory about the 2024 Trump assassination attempt.
